Hello from Jefferys Bay! We just finished our 2nd month in Lesotho and we are back in South Africa. Due to the government issues in eSwatini our team got relocated to Jefferys Bay, South Africa for our last month! As we transition to our final location I’m reflecting on this past month and all the Lord has taught me.

I grew so much in my faith during our time in the Melealea Valley. The Lord showed me so much peace during this month by just allowing me to be present in all aspects of the day. (It definitely helped not having my phone the entire month).  I experienced life in such a simpler way which in turn allowed me to experience Gods peaceful presence and see what was right in front of me.

I had so many moments where I would freeze in my place and just stare in awe of the creation before me. The valleys and mountains surrounding me were so much smaller then God is. His creation is absolutely astounding and He is so much larger then my mind can comprehend.

I Corinthians 14:33
For God is not a God of confusion, but of peace.

My mind will never be able to fully understand His goodness and faithfulness, but in everyone of those moments I had I knew the Lord was there taking it in with me, laughing when I was trying to understand His depths, and smiling when I accepted it simply.

The people of Lesotho showed me that you don’t need to have a big house and running water, because it is worth nothing at the end of the day. You need to have a strong, loving community around you as well as have your eyes fixed on the Lord.

Ecclesiastes 1:14
I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

These people live such peaceful, simple lives. Of course they have their own personal struggles and battles they’ve walked through, but they know how to love deeply and not allow society define them.

Matthew 6:30-33
But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

I learned that i need to live with my hands open, ready to accept whatever the Lord may place in them. The Lord is so faithful and will provide in ways we may not expect, therefore it’s so easy to miss what He is placing right in front of  us. However, He always provides and it is not in my place to question my creators way:)

The Melealea Valley will forever hold a special place in my heart.

As we head into our last month overseas, I ask for prayers of peace over my team as we head into the unknown. Prayers that the Lord will place us where we are needed and for all of our hearts to be so abundantly full as we head back home at the end of it.

Blessings,

Brenna:)

  4. Aw I love this! I love that peace was mentioned and hi-lighted so many times. From what I’ve heard it was the prettiest thing you’ve laid your eyes on! Peace is so hard to achieve now a days with all the work and time we take up each day doing work, running errands, and making time for others. It is hard to find time to relax, for ourselves, and to focus on God. Just being present is so hard to do and I’m glad you were able to do so. Not only with your phone gone, but truly being present during your time there to enjoy the nature, each other’s company, and the community you were there to help with. I’m sorry your location moved, but I’m so excited you enjoyed your time there and are ready for South Africa again!
